Kelly Caleche is Jean-Claude Ellena's most intimate act of homage, a fragrance born from the memory of a visit to the Hermes leather archives, where the scent of freshly tanned hides and the soft whisper of floral petals became inseparable in the perfumer's imagination. Created in 2007 and named in tribute to two of the Maison's most iconic objects the Kelly bag and the caleche, the horse-drawn carriage that has symbolised Hermes for over a century. This eau de toilette is a masterpiece of restraint and refinement.

The opening is luminous and sparkling, a crystalline accord of grapefruit, lily of the valley, and narcissus that feels as clear and fresh as morning light. It is bright without being sharp, citrus without being obvious: a quintessentially Ellena opening that draws you in with effortless grace. As the fragrance unfolds, a soft, powdery heart of rose and mimosa blooms, tender and feminine, with the faintest green-floral trace of tuberose lending depth and radiance. The florals here are never heavy; they float, as Ellena himself described, "as light as an angel's wing."

The base is where Kelly Caleche reveals its defining character: a note of fine leather inspired by the Hermes box calf used for the first Kelly bags, rises from the dry-down with extraordinary subtlety and elegance. It is not the bold, smoky leather of classic perfumery; it is skin-warm, soft, and deeply sophisticated, anchored by the earthy polish of vetiver. The bottle, designed by Philippe Mouquet, bears the miniature metal plate and turn-lock clasp of the Kelly bag itself, a detail as precise and considered as the fragrance within.
